Fully funded 4-year PhD studentship in cancer cell biology. The project focuses on why meiotic proteins are re-expressed in cancer cells and how this influences therapy resistance. The candidate will gain hands-on experience in advanced techniques like CRISPR-Cas9, proteomics, and high-resolution imaging. The lab is part of the EMBO Young Investigator Labs network.
Job Responsibility:
Investigate the mechanisms driving reactivation of meiotic genes in cancer
Assess their impact on cell physiology, genome stability, and chemotherapy response
Explore potential therapeutic vulnerabilities that could improve cancer treatment outcomes
Requirements:
Masters (MSc, MRes, MBioSci, etc) in biomedical sciences, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field
Strong experimental skills in cell biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry
Curiosity, independence, and a collaborative spirit
Nice to have:
Prior experience in cancer biology, meiosis, or proteomics
