Job Description:

Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in CVS Health's promise to transform healthcare. They assist pharmacy teams in delivering operational and service excellence, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly and with care. The role requires attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to exceptional customer service. Technicians may participate in additional training to support immunization services. Flexibility in scheduling and compliance with state and company standards are essential.

Job Responsibility:

  • Following all company SOPs to improve patient health
  • Adhering to pharmacy workflow procedures for prescription fulfillment
  • Providing empathetic and personalized care to patients
  • Offering immunization and patient health care services at the register, when allowed by the state
  • Completing inventory activities like cycle counts and return-to-stock processes
  • Seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
  • Remaining flexible to meet business needs, including working shifts at other store locations
  • Complying with all federal, state, local laws, and CVS policies to ensure compliance and patient safety
  • Supporting vaccine administration with proper training and certification, including educating patients about vaccines and monitoring for adverse reactions.

Requirements:

  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to, age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If the state board of pharmacy does not address or mandate a minimum age requirement, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If the state board of pharmacy does not address or mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
  • State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Basic mathematical reasoning skills for calculating doses or supply
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs, remain upright for extended periods, and perform repetitive finger movements.

Nice to have:

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs.
