Job Description

This is a permanent, 37.5-hour per week opportunity within the Dispensing Support Pharmacy (DSP) in Preston. This is a non-patient-facing role supporting Boots stores across the UK. The DSP dispenses thousands of prescription items each day and plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive their medicines safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the safe and accurate dispensing of prescriptions within a high-volume dispensing environment
  • Provide professional support to Boots stores across the UK, responding to operational and dispensing-related queries
  • Assist in maintaining service levels and communicate effectively with stores regarding any delays or issues
  • Ensure patient safety remains at the forefront of all activities
  • Support compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), governance requirements, and regulatory standards
  • Work collaboratively with Pharmacists and the wider DSP team to deliver an efficient and high-quality dispensing service
  • Carry out final accuracy checking duties where appropriately qualified and accredited
  • Support stock management, workflow optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and contribute to a safe working environment
  • Ensure all activities are completed in line with Clinical Governance principles and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Registered with the relevant pharmacy regulator (GPhC, PSNI, PSI)
  • A genuine excitement for coaching and leading a dispensary team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Motivation to change things for the better for our teams, customers and patients
  • A desire to deliver services and outstanding patient care
  • Ability to use pharmacy systems and technology

Nice to have

Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician with checking capability - however this is not essential as training will be given.
