Job Description:

Pharmacy Technician position at CVS Health supporting pharmacy teams to deliver operational and service excellence. Responsible for assisting patients, filling prescriptions accurately, following pharmacy workflow procedures, and providing compassionate care. May also support immunizations where allowable by law.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
  • Assist patients and customers to deliver exceptional experience
  • Ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly
  • Fill patients' prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices
  • Complete company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off)
  • Show empathy and genuine care creating heartfelt and personalized moments
  • Offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law
  • Accurately put away medication deliveries
  • Complete cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories
  • Embrace growth mindset and be receptive to feedback
  • Seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
  • Travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
  • Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety
  • Support immunizations where allowable by law
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements for Technician Immunizer status
  • Educate patients about importance of vaccines
  • Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions
  • Report adverse reaction events per public health requirements
  • Review and collect patient information
  • Track and document for each applicable patient
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies

Requirements:

  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy
  • Must be at least 16 years of age (if state doesn't mandate minimum age)
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program (if state doesn't mandate minimum education)
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients' reactions and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication
  • Utilize active listening skills
  • Ability to use math to solve pharmacy problems
  • Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
  • Physical mobility and ability to remain upright for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, scan, and bag items
  • Ability to reach overhead and stretch
  • Move fingers repetitively for typing and handling items
  • Extend hands and arms in multiple directions
  • Control precision for machine adjustments
  • Stoop to considerable degree
  • Close visual acuity for reading and inspection
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally
  • Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations
