Job Description:

Pharmacy Technician role at CVS Health supporting pharmacy teams to deliver operational and service excellence. Technicians assist in ensuring pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly and accurately, and provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations. The role involves working across various pharmacy workstations and contributing to a safe, inclusive team culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence
  • Assist pharmacy team to ensure pharmacy operations run smoothly
  • Ensure patients' prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
  • Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations
  • Operate as part of pharmacy team using Standard Operating Procedures
  • Demonstrate genuine care in all customer and colleague interactions
  • Complete company training program and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off)
  • Show empathy and genuine care creating heartfelt and personalized moments
  • Serve patients at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone
  • Offer immunizations and other services at register and over phone
  • Solve or escalate patient problems
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law
  • Accurately put away medication deliveries
  • Complete cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories
  • Embrace growth mindset and be receptive to feedback
  • Seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
  • Travel to stores in market to work shifts as needed
  • Understand and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards
  • Comply with CVS policies and procedures for patient safety
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point-of-care testing, staffing offsite clinics) where allowable by law

Requirements:

  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy
  • If state board does not mandate minimum age requirement, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If state board does not mandate minimum educational requirement, must have high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
  • State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients' reactions and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication
  • Utilize active listening
  • Ability to use math to solve problems
  • Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing best course of action
  • Physical mobility and ability to remain upright for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead and stretch to grasp items
  • Move fingers repetitively
  • Extend hands and arms multiple directions
  • Control precision to adjust machines
  • Stoop to considerable degree
  • Close visual acuity for transcribing, viewing computer terminal, reading
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs
  • Frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Ability to express or exchange ideas by spoken word
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs
