This position is responsible for providing timely preparation and distribution of medications and IV solutions within the hospital in conjunction with established guidelines, policies and procedures, and statutory requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Providing timely preparation and distribution of medications and IV solutions within the hospital
Provide optimal patient care by recognizing differences in drug therapy in pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
Assist the pharmacist in the timely and accurate distribution of medications
Enter medication orders into the pharmacy computer system
Maintain and update the patient pharmacy profile
Prepare medication cassettes and delivers to nursing units throughout the hospital
Pull, prepare and label medications based on the orders entered by a pharmacist
Pull and deliver medications for automated dispensing machines
Assist in the training of new technicians
Work varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the department
Attend on a regular basis staff meetings, technician meetings, etc
Fill inpatient/outpatient medication orders
Maintain general pharmacy knowledge, knowledge of medications, medication dosage forms, and trade and generic names
Preparation of sterile parenteral products using proper aseptic technique
Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, proper product labeling, and product reconstitution procedures
Understanding of medication order procedures involving the pharmacy computer system
Maintain effective communication with co-workers, other hospital employees, patients and visitors
Working knowledge of Renown Health and specific departmental policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws regarding pharmacy
Requirements:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English
Prefer high School Diploma, (or equivalent), proficient math skills
1 year prior experience in a hospital or community pharmacy, or be enrolled in an ACPE accredited PharmD program if applying as a pharmacy intern
For 200234, two (2) years of sterile compounding experience required, sterile chemotherapy preparation preferred
Registered by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technician in Training, or as a Pharmacy Intern. Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or as a Pharmacy Intern by first work anniversary
Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician training program, have national certification, or have pharmacy intern certificate of registration preferred
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Typing: 30 wpm
Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician training program, have national certification, or have pharmacy intern certificate of registration preferred
