Job Description:

Pharmacy Technicians at CVS Health support pharmacy teams in delivering operational and service excellence within a store. They assist patients and customers, follow workflows, manage inventory, and contribute to a high-performing team. Technicians must complete rigorous training, meet licensing and certification requirements, remain flexible with scheduling, and comply with regulations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health
  • Following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by creating heartfelt and personalized moments
  • Offering services like immunizations and solving or escalating patient problems
  • Completing basic inventory activities like putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts
  • Contributing to a high-performing team and being receptive to feedback
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to stores as needed
  • Understanding and complying with all relevant regulations and ethical principles
  • Delivering additional patient health care services like immunizations and staffing offsite clinics (where permissible)
  • Completing additional licensure and training requirements for Technician Immunizer status
  • Educating patients about vaccines and monitoring for adverse reactions
  • Reviewing and collecting patient information and managing vaccine supplies.

Requirements:

  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, which includes but is not limited to, age, education, and licensure/certification
  • If the state board of pharmacy does not address or mandate a minimum age requirement, must be at least 16 years of age
  • If the state board of pharmacy does not address or mandate a minimum educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or high school equivalency program
  • State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • Respond appropriately to patients’ reactions
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication
  • Utilize active listening skills
  • Ability to use math to solve problems
  • Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and determine the best course of action
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead and extend arms to grasp items
  • Move fingers repetitively for tasks like typing
  • Stoop to move items between low and high positions
  • Have close visual acuity for detailed tasks
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Express or exchange ideas through spoken word
  • Receive detailed information through oral communication.

Nice to have:

  • 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
