This position is viewed as an expert in pharmacy technical practices. Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist by performing technical functions associated with drug distribution in accordance with specific provisions, standards, and State and Federal laws and regulations. Dependent upon assignment, the principle areas of drug distribution may include unit dose, intravenous, oral, and topical drug compounding, TPN preparation, inventory control, automated dispensing equipment and related duties, as required. Customer service, teamwork and communication are important job functions. Trains and mentors Level I technicians, pharmacist interns and pharmacy students. Using developed skills in pharmacy systems to trouble shoot issues, in coordination with a pharmacist, is expected. Strong coordination and prioritization skills are required.
Job Responsibility:

Requirements:
High school diploma, GED or foreign equivalent
Two years of experience
Registered CA Pharmacy Technician
Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology, metric and apothecary measures
Must have met equivalency of 2 years of work as a Pharmacy Tech, Level I RCHSD inpatient pharmacy
Didactic and practical experience in IV compounding including chemotherapy handling and preparation
Knowledge of pharmacy ethics, laws, and accountability and control of prescriptions and controlled drugs
Nice to have:
Associate’s Degree
Three years of experience
Experience in a pediatric hospital setting
Experience with automated dispensing machines and barcode technology
