The Pharmacy Technician III plays a critical role in supporting pharmacy operations within a closed-door veterinary pharmacy setting. This position is responsible for prescription processing, inventory management, order fulfillment, workflow coordination, and supporting pharmacists to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely shipment of prescription orders. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to operate efficiently in a production-driven pharmacy and warehouse environment.
Job Responsibility:
Support pharmacy operations by entering prescriptions into the dispensing system
Retrieve, label, stage, and tote prescription drug products following pharmacist verification
Prepare orders for shipment
Maintain pharmacy inventory by organizing and restocking medications and supplies
Ensure work environment remains clean and compliant with pharmacy standards
Maintain all required licensure
Communicate with customers, veterinarians, pharmacists, and internal team members
Access and retrieve information from pharmacy computer systems
Assist pharmacists with information for patient consultations
Refer medical inquiries to the pharmacist
Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacy layout, warehouse safety practices, RF scanner usage, bin location navigation, mode of transportation identification, correct staging and sorting of orders, labeling techniques, and verification processes
Monitor workflow, production demands, and inventory levels to ensure timely fulfillment
Prioritize tasks to meet business needs
Collaborate with technicians, pharmacists, and inventory teams to resolve workflow issues and shortages
Guide or support other pharmacy technicians
Process new and refill orders
Interpret prescriptions and standing orders
Print and manage order waves
Verify account and order information
Support training and onboarding of new technicians
Assist with workflow process improvements
Maintain prescription files in compliance with legal requirements
Obtain forklift certification if required
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Active unrestricted Registered or Licensed Pharmacy Technician credential issued by the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy
National Pharmacy Technician certification required where mandated, preferred where not
One or more years of related pharmacy experience preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations
Working knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution practices
