Job Description:

Under Pharmacist general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician III - Pharmacy Medication Access Clinic (PMAC), will support prescription renewal requests, prior authorizations, and other clinical support activities for UCSD Health Cardiology, Endocrinology, and Primary Care clinics (primary focus on cardiology support).

Job Responsibility:

  • Support prescription renewal requests, prior authorizations, and other clinical support activities for UCSD Health Cardiology, Endocrinology, and Primary Care clinics
  • Follow protocol-mediated review and processing of prescription renewals and prior authorization requests
  • Make recommendations to the Pharmacist on approval of prescription renewals and prior authorizations and communicate the result to the appropriate party
  • Assist in chart review for patients within the scope and protocol of the PMAC
  • Assist the Pharmacist on clinical interventions impacting quality and pay for performance measures

Requirements:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy
  • Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience performing technician duties/ functions required

Nice to have:

  • Retail pharmacy experience
  • Previous experience working with electronic health records (EHR)
  • Experience working in ambulatory care setting or working on medication prior authorizations
