Requirements

A minimum of 6 months of recent experience working in a UK setting with children or young people with complex SEN (ASD, PMLD, SLD)
Experience gained in an SEN school or specialist provision within a mainstream school
Confidence and experience in providing personal care
A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a dedicated team
A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable
An enhanced DBS Children and Adult on the update service, or a willingness to apply for a new one

Job Responsibility

Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, and SLD
Collaborate with the class teacher to adapt learning materials and create an engaging, accessible curriculum
Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to regular progress reviews
Foster a positive and safe learning space, supporting pupils with their social, emotional, and communication development
Assist with pupil's personal care needs with dignity and respect
Manage classroom resources and help prepare for lessons and activities
Liaise with a multi-disciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and external professionals, to ensure holistic support for each child
Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding, ensuring the welfare of all pupils is paramount
