Job Responsibility:
Under the supervision of a staff pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for providing technical support to pharmacists at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in the Central pharmacy, oncology clinic, intensive care units, operating room, TPN area and/or the Employee Prescription Center
preparation, packaging and delivery of medications for both inpatients and outpatients
assists in at least one of the specialty areas including Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Oncology Clinic, TPN production, operating room and the Employee Prescription Center
assists in the preparation, packaging, labeling and delivery of medications
prepares all forms of medication (e.g.: oral, rectal, IV solutions, and syringes) for Hospital patients
prepares and delivers unit dose medication cassettes
utilizes aseptic technique and is knowledgeable of USP 797 guidelines
handles narcotics according to policy
prioritizes workload
assists in daily functioning and maintaining of inpatient and outpatient automation of pharmacy technologies
processes patient admissions, discharges and transfers
stocks pharmaceuticals in the inpatient, outpatient and satellite areas
Requirements:
High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
one year of pharmacy tech experience in an inpatient hospital setting required
Current status as a Pharmacy Tech I required
License Pharmacy Technician (41) - State of Wisconsin required
