Job Description:

The Pharmacy Intern role at CVS Health gives graduates the opportunity to apply their educational knowledge to real-world practice with the goal of transitioning to a licensed Pharmacist. The position involves assisting pharmacy teams in daily operations, providing exceptional patient care, and fulfilling additional responsibilities in compliance with regulations and company standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Living the company’s purpose by following all SOPs
  • Managing pharmacy workflows for tasks such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
  • Offering compassionate care to patients, both in-person and over the phone
  • Counseling, answering medical questions, and consulting with prescribers under supervision
  • Assisting with inventory activities such as medication delivery and stock counts
  • Providing immunizations where permissible
  • Supporting patient health through services including offsite clinics
  • Training and mentoring pharmacy team members
  • Maintaining compliance with all laws and company policies

Requirements:

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying
  • Ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
  • Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action when faced with multiple options
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead
  • Extend hand(s) and arm(s) multiple directions to handle items
  • Control precision
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Express or exchange ideas by spoken word
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to become immunization certified
  • Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
