Job Description:

The Pharmacy Intern role at CVS Health gives graduates the opportunity to apply their educational knowledge to real-world practice with the goal of transitioning to a licensed Pharmacist. The position involves assisting pharmacy teams in daily operations, providing exceptional patient care, and fulfilling additional responsibilities in compliance with regulations and company standards.

Job Responsibility:

Living the company’s purpose by following all SOPs
Managing pharmacy workflows for tasks such as production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off
Offering compassionate care to patients, both in-person and over the phone
Counseling, answering medical questions, and consulting with prescribers under supervision
Assisting with inventory activities such as medication delivery and stock counts
Providing immunizations where permissible
Supporting patient health through services including offsite clinics
Training and mentoring pharmacy team members
Maintaining compliance with all laws and company policies

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying
Ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action when faced with multiple options
Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
Lift, scan, and bag items
Reach overhead
Extend hand(s) and arm(s) multiple directions to handle items
Control precision
Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
Express or exchange ideas by spoken word
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified
Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
