Job Description:

As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, you will gain real-world experience while applying knowledge from pharmacy school. Training includes Key Learning Experiences and mentoring, with the goal of preparing you for a Pharmacist role. You will play a critical role in ensuring smooth pharmacy operations, developing patient care skills, and adhering to regulations. Responsibilities include prescription management, patient interaction, inventory handling, and compliance with laws, supported by extensive training and operational exposure.

Job Responsibility:

  • Following all company SOPs to assist pharmacists and technicians
  • Following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe prescription fulfillment
  • Providing patient care, offering immunizations, and solving patient problems
  • Taking telephonic prescriptions and facilitating medication changes
  • Completing basic inventory tasks such as stocking and cycle counts
  • Contributing to team growth through feedback and skill expansion
  • Adhering to federal, state, and local laws regarding pharmacy operations
  • Delivering patient healthcare services, including immunizations and testing
  • Educating patients about vaccines and monitoring for adverse reactions
  • Documenting required patient information.

Requirements:

  • Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening, giving full attention to what others are saying, asking questions, and not interrupting
  • Ability to use math to solve a problem such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, or additional bottles needed
  • Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead to grasp items
  • Move fingers repetitively for tasks like typing
  • Occasionally lift or exert up to 20 lbs.

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to become immunization certified
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
