Job Description:

At CVS Health, Graduate Pharmacy Interns play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams by learning and applying pharmacy practice in a real-world setting. Responsibilities include prescription fulfillment, patient counseling, inventory management, and additional health care services such as immunizations. Interns will be trained to prepare for increasing responsibility, working closely with a preceptor and District Leader in a structured program aimed at developing pharmacist readiness.

  • understanding and complying with relevant laws and regulations
  • delivering additional patient health care services such as immunizations or point-of-care testing
  • preparing and administering vaccines
  • monitoring for adverse reactions
  • tracking and documenting patient information.

Requirements:

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
  • use and understand verbal and written communication
  • utilize active listening
  • ability to use math to solve problems such as determining tablet counts
  • identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions
  • mobility and ability to remain upright for extended periods
  • ability to lift items up to 20 lbs
  • close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing or reading
  • ability to engage in oral communication
  • proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • ability to become immunization certified
  • ability to work across the market in other locations as needed
  • proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
