Job Description:

Graduate Pharmacy Interns at CVS Health play a vital role in supporting pharmacy teams and developing skills to prepare for a Pharmacist role. Training includes understanding patient safety, pharmacy operations, error prevention, quality assurance, and professional standards. Responsibilities include patient care, prescription fulfillment, team collaboration, and maintaining compliance with laws and policies.

Job Responsibility:

  • Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists and Technicians manage and improve patient health
  • following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
  • offering to counsel, answering medical questions, and soliciting medical history information
  • taking telephonic prescriptions and contacting prescribers for clarification
  • completing basic inventory activities like receiving medication deliveries and cycle counts
  • contributing to a high-performing team and seeking to grow clinical and technical knowledge
  • demonstrating flexibility for scheduling and traveling as needed
  • complying with laws, regulations, policies, and ethical principles
  • supporting patient health services like immunizations, testing, and offsite clinics where permissible

Requirements:

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • failure to obtain required Pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation will result in separation of employment
  • must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • attention to prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
  • use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • utilize active listening without interrupting at inappropriate times
  • ability to use math to solve problems concerning prescriptions
  • identify challenges in patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action
  • physical requirements such as the ability to stand, lift items, and manipulate small objects
  • comply with relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • ability to become immunization certified
  • proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
