Job Description:

3rd year Pharmacy Intern role at CVS Health focused on transforming health care for customers. The position involves applying didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to become ready for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of a preceptor, the intern will complete comprehensive training designed to show what it's like to be part of a pharmacy team while gaining overview of store, district, and regional operations.

Job Responsibility:

Apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice
Complete comprehensive training roadmap with Key Learning Experiences
Assist pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly
Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
Provide caring service exceeding patient expectations
Operate as part of pharmacy team using Standard Operating Procedures
Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in all interactions
Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations
Contribute to positive patient experiences at pick-up, drive-thru, and phone
Offer immunizations and other services
Demonstrate compassionate care by solving patient problems
Offer to counsel and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision
Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers
Call prescribers to clarify prescriptions
Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members
Complete basic inventory activities
Contribute to high-performing team with growth mindset
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
Travel to stores in market as needed
Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards
Deliver additional patient health care services where allowable

Requirements:

Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients' reactions and respond appropriately
Use and understand verbal and written communication
Utilize active listening
Ability to use math to solve problems
Identifying challenging interactions and choosing the best course of action
Physical mobility and ability to remain upright for extended periods
Ability to lift, scan, and bag items
Reach overhead and stretch to grasp items
Move fingers repetitively for typing and picking
Extend hands and arms in multiple directions
Control precision for machine adjustments
Stoop considerably using lower extremities and back muscles
Close visual acuity for transcribing and reading
Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and 10 lbs frequently
Express ideas through spoken word
Receive detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified
Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
