Job Description:

CVS Health is seeking a Graduate Pharmacy Intern to support pharmacy teams and prepare for a Pharmacist role. The role includes hands-on learning, training, and the development of technical skills to improve patients’ health outcomes and support pharmacy operations. Responsibilities include prescription fulfillment, inventory management, patient care, and team development. Applicants must have a PharmD degree, be able to obtain licensure, and exhibit a customer service-oriented mindset.

Job Responsibility:

Following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients
responding compassionately to patient problems
offering to counsel patients and fielding medical questions
maintaining inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, completing cycle counts, and managing returns-to-stock
helping patients stay healthy by offering immunizations
training and mentoring pharmacy team members
remaining flexible for scheduling and traveling to other locations as needed
complying with relevant laws and regulations regarding patient safety and privacy
delivering additional patient healthcare services such as immunizations or point-of-care testing

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and/or number of full bottles and additional bottles needed to fill a prescription
identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action when faced with multiple options
be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
lift, scan, and bag items
reach overhead or stretch to grasp items
move fingers repetitively to perform detailed tasks
comply with federal, state, and local laws and professional standards
proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
ability to become immunization certified
ability to work in home store and across the market to meet business needs
