Job Description:

At CVS Health, Graduate Pharmacy Interns play a crucial role in supporting pharmacy teams by assisting with safe prescription fulfillment and ensuring positive patient experiences. The position involves comprehensive training and opportunities to develop skills required for a pharmacist role while working under supervision. Responsibilities include adhering to company workflow procedures, managing inventory, delivering patient healthcare services, and participating in an inclusive workplace culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Living company purpose by following all SOPs to improve patient health
  • Following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
  • Counseling and addressing patient medical inquiries under supervision
  • Taking telephonic prescriptions and clarifying orders with prescribers
  • Mentoring and coaching pharmacy team members
  • Completing inventory activities such as putting away medication, cycle counts, and returns
  • Expanding clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients
  • Maintaining compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Delivering healthcare services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing.

Requirements:

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying
  • Mathematical reasoning ability to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
  • Problem resolution skills
  • Physical ability to remain upright, lift/move items, and perform repetitive movements
  • Close visual acuity for activities such as transcribing, reading, and viewing details.

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to become immunization certified
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
