Job Description:

The role of a Graduate Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health aims to prepare recent PharmD graduates for a Pharmacist position by providing structured training and hands-on learning in a supportive environment. Key focuses are patient safety, compliance with regulations, and quality assurance. The intern will apply didactic learning from pharmacy practice to contribute to safe and effective pharmacy operations, address patient inquiries, and foster excellence in patient care.

Job Responsibility:

Living the company purpose by following all company SOPs at workstations to manage and improve patient health
following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
contributing to positive patient experiences
offering to counsel and providing optimal care under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist
taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarifying them as needed
maintaining highest self-awareness and coaching pharmacy team members
completing inventory activities per law and pharmacy leadership direction
contributing to a high-performing team with a growth mindset
complying with all legal and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy
delivering additional healthcare services including immunizations and offsite clinics where allowed by law
educating patients about vaccines and administering them where permissible
monitoring adverse vaccine reactions and reporting as needed

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
utilize active listening
ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and/or number of full bottles and additional bottles needed to fill a prescription
identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action when faced with multiple options
be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
lift, scan, and bag items
reach overhead and move fingers repetitively
ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, and negligible force consistently
provide detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
ability to become immunization certified
ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs
proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
