Job Description:

Graduate Pharmacy Intern position at CVS Health focused on transforming health care for customers. The role involves applying pharmacy school learning into real-world practice to become ready for a Pharmacist role. Under direction of preceptor and District Leader, the intern will complete comprehensive training within 120 days of graduation to deepen knowledge of operations, patient safety, quality assurance, and pharmacy professional standards.

Job Responsibility:

Apply didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice
Complete comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation
Assist pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly
Ensure patients' prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations
Operate as part of pharmacy team using Standard Operating Procedures
Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in customer interactions
Support management, oversight, and operations within pharmacy
Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations
Create heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients
Offer immunizations and other services
Demonstrate compassionate care by solving patient problems
Offer to counsel and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision
Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers
Maintain self-awareness and provide coaching to team members
Complete basic inventory activities
Contribute to high-performing team and embrace growth mindset
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
Travel to stores in market as needed
Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards
Deliver additional patient health care services where allowable

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients' reactions and respond appropriately
Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Utilize active listening skills
Ability to use math to solve problems
Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
Physical ability to be mobile and remain upright for extended periods, lift items, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, extend hands and arms, control precision, stoop, and have close visual acuity
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified
Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
