Job Description:

At CVS Health, a Pharmacy Intern will gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations, focusing on applying educational learning to real-world practice. Interns will support pharmacy teams by following company SOPs, adhering to pharmacy workflows, and ensuring accurate prescription fulfillment while providing caring service to patients. This role includes mentorship, on-the-job training, and opportunities to provide additional patient health services where permitted by state regulations.

Job Responsibility:

Following all company SOPs to help pharmacists and technicians manage and improve patient health
adhering to pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
contributing to positive patient experiences and creating heartfelt and personalized moments
offering to counsel and soliciting information on a patient’s medical history
calling prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes
providing in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to team members
completing basic inventory activities like putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, and returns-to-stocks
delivering additional patient health care services like immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowable by law
complying with all relevant federal, state, and local laws
contributing to a high-performing team and fostering a safe and inclusive culture.

Requirements:

Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately
use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
utilize active listening skills and not interrupt
ability to use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
identifying challenging interactions and choosing the best course of action
ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods of time
ability to lift, scan, and bag items
reach overhead and move items
extend arms in multiple directions
repetitive movement of fingers
stoop and bend to move items between low and high positions
close visual acuity for activities like transcribing and reading
ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs.

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
ability to become immunization certified
proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
