Job Description:

Graduate Pharmacy Interns at CVS Health play a critical role supporting pharmacy operations by applying knowledge from pharmacy school into real-world practice. Interns assist with patient services, prescription fulfillment, inventory management, and developing skills required for a Pharmacist role.

Job Responsibility:

  • solving or escalating patient problems
  • offering to counsel and fielding medical questions
  • calling prescriber to clarify prescriptions
  • coaching, training, and mentoring pharmacy team members
  • completing basic inventory activities
  • traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed
  • understanding and complying with relevant laws and regulations
  • delivering additional patient health care services where permissible
  • educating patients about vaccines
  • monitoring and responding to adverse reactions

Requirements:

  • PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
  • ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
  • must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
  • notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying
  • ability to use math to solve a problem
  • identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
  • be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • lift, scan, and bag items
  • reach overhead
  • move fingers repetitively
  • extend hands and arms multiple directions
  • control precision
  • stoop to a considerable degree
  • close visual acuity
  • occasionally lift up to 20 lbs
  • consistently lift negligible amounts of force
  • express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word
  • ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
  • any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • ability to become immunization certified
  • ability to work in home store and across the market
  • proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
