Job Description:

The 3rd year Pharmacy Intern role at CVS Health involves developing skills to prepare for a Pharmacist position. Responsibilities include supporting the pharmacy team, learning operational processes, improving patient health care, and assisting with additional patient services. The role also emphasizes regulatory compliance, inventory management, and patient experience development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Living the company purpose by following all company SOPs
  • assisting Pharmacists and Technicians in managing and improving patient health
  • following pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • creating positive patient experiences showing empathy and care
  • offering counseling under supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • taking telephonic prescriptions and facilitating medication changes, when allowed
  • maintaining pharmacy inventory
  • coaching and mentoring team members through in-the-moment guidance
  • complying with laws, regulations, and company policies for patient safety
  • contributing to a safe and inclusive work culture
  • delivering additional patient health services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing)
  • preparing and administering vaccines where permissible by law.

Requirements:

  • Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
  • must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • attention to detail to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
  • notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • utilize active listening
  • ability to use math to solve a problem
  • resolving challenging patient or colleague interactions by choosing the best course of action
  • must be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • ability to move and lift various weights as described in the physical demands
  • express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word where detailed instructions must be conveyed accurately
  • ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • ability to become immunization certified
  • ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
  • proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
