Job Description:

As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, you will apply your learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice, preparing for a Pharmacist role. Responsibilities include assisting the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment, inventory management, patient interaction, and maintaining compliance with regulations. You will gain hands-on experience and develop skills under the supervision of a preceptor, contributing to a high-performing team while delivering compassionate and inclusive care.

Job Responsibility:

  • Following all company SOPs to manage and improve patient health
  • Ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
  • Offering counselling and fielding medical questions under direct supervision
  • Taking telephonic prescriptions and clarifying or facilitating changes as allowed by state law
  • Providing coaching, training, and mentoring to team members
  • Completing basic inventory activities such as putting away deliveries, completing cycle counts, processing returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories
  • Contributing to a high-performing team by embracing feedback
  • Maintaining flexibility for scheduling and business needs
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws
  • Delivering additional patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where permitted by law.

Requirements:

  • Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
  • Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety
  • Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening
  • Ability to use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
  • Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action from multiple options
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead and grasp items
  • Extend hand(s) and arm(s) in multiple directions
  • Transcribe, view a computer terminal, or visually inspect small parts
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and consistently exert negligible forces to move objects
  • Express ideas by spoken word where detailed instructions must be conveyed accurately
  • Receive detailed information through oral communication.

Nice to have:

  • 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to become immunization certified
  • Ability to work across the market in other locations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
