Job Description:

Graduate Pharmacy Intern position at CVS Health focused on transforming health care for customers. The role involves applying didactic learning from pharmacy school into real-world practice to become ready for a Pharmacist role. Under the direction of preceptor and District Leader, the intern will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation designed to further knowledge of store, district, and regional operations.

Job Responsibility:

Complete comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation
Deepen understanding of patient safety and error prevention
Learn quality assurance drug utilization review (DUR)
Understand pharmacy professional standards including corresponding responsibility and red flag detection
Assist pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly
Ensure patients' prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately
Provide caring service that exceeds patient expectations
Operate as part of pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Demonstrate empathy and genuine care in customer interactions
Contribute to safe and inclusive culture
Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off)
Create heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients
Offer immunizations and other services at register and over phone
Demonstrate compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems
Offer to counsel and field medical questions under supervision
Take telephonic prescriptions from prescriber
Call prescriber to clarify prescriptions where allowed
Provide in-the-moment coaching and training to pharmacy team members
Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law
Contribute to high-performing team and embrace growth mindset
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs
Travel to stores in market to work shifts as needed
Understand and comply with all relevant laws and regulations
Deliver additional patient health care services where allowable by law

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients' reactions and respond appropriately
Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Utilize active listening skills
Ability to use math to solve problems
Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
Physical ability to be mobile and remain upright for extended periods
Lift, scan, and bag items
Reach overhead and stretch to grasp items
Move fingers repetitively
Extend hands and arms multiple directions
Control precision to adjust machines to exact positions
Stoop to considerable degree
Close visual acuity for activities like transcribing and reading
Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs

Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified
Ability to work in home store and across the market in other locations
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
