Job Description:

As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, you will gain hands-on experience applying your pharmacy education to real-world practices. Under the guidance of your preceptor and leadership team, you will grow professionally while playing a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams. Responsibilities include following workflows, delivering exceptional patient care, complying with regulations, and completing training. You will also gain exposure to immunization services and become prepared for increasing responsibilities to develop into a future Pharmacist.

Job Responsibility:

Living purpose by following company SOPs for managing and improving patient health
Following pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
Offering to counsel, answering medical questions, and gathering patient medical history under supervision
Taking telephonic prescriptions and calling prescribers to clarify, where permitted
Conducting inventory activities such as medication deliveries and cycle counts
Contributing to a high-performing team by embracing feedback and expanding clinical and technical knowledge
Demonstrating flexibility for scheduling, including voluntary traveling for shifts as needed
Understanding and complying with all laws, regulations, and ethical principles
Administering vaccines and delivering patient care services, where state and training allow

Requirements:

PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Utilize active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting
Ability to use math to solve a problem, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day's supply, and/or number of full bottles and additional bottles needed to fill a prescription
Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions and choosing the best course of action
Mobility and capacity to remain upright for extended periods
Ability to lift, scan, bag, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, and handle physical tasks up to 20 lbs
Clear visual and verbal communication skills
Ability to meet additional licensing and certification requirements for immunizations, as needed

Nice to have:

1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified
Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
