Job Responsibility
Applying didactic learning from pharmacy school and pharmacy practice into real-world practice to become ready for a Pharmacist role
Completing a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation designed to further your knowledge of store, district, and regional operations
Deepening your understanding of patient safety and error prevention, quality assurance drug utilization review (DUR), pharmacy professional standards such as corresponding responsibility and red flag detection
Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, our patients’ prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and we are providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations
Learning to operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication
Demonstrating empathy and genuine care, and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered
Taking on greater accountability for supporting the management, oversight, and operations within the pharmacy
Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation
Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
Offering to counsel, fielding medical questions, and soliciting information on a patient’s medical history to provide optimal care
Taking telephonic prescriptions from the prescriber
Maintaining the highest level of self-awareness and providing in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members
Completing basic inventory activities

Remaining flexible for both scheduling and business needs
Understanding and complying with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles
Delivering additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics)
Completing additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status
Educating patients about vaccines and answering questions
Monitoring for, and responding to, adverse reactions
Reporting adverse reaction events per public health requirements
Reviewing and collecting patient information
Tracking and documenting for each applicable patient
Requirements
PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the Post-Graduate Training Program at CVS Health
Ability to obtain required pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe, per state guidelines. Failure to obtain required Pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation will result in separation of employment.
Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
Nice to have
1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to become immunization certified: Once state regulations are met, pharmacy interns should be striving to provide patient immunizations as this is an essential pharmacist function
Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
