A Pharmacy Extern is responsible for responding to patient needs for medications and utilizing technical preparation skills to compound, manufacture, and assimilate the medications necessary for the operation of all pharmaceutical services at Children's Hospital of Alabama. A Pharmacy Extern must be able to work efficiently and accurately while following diversified departmental policies and procedures while under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. This practice will be governed by the standards of institutional hospital pharmacy as stated by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy.

Capable of obtaining a level of competency necessary to complete the following COA formal training programs: Aseptic Technique, USP <797>, USP <795>, and USP <800> Training Programs
Calculations and Computations for oral and IV compounding
