Are you an experienced Pharmacy Assistant looking for a fresh challenge and a meaningful step forward in your career? We are currently partnering with a premier specialty pharmacy to find a dedicated Pharmacy Assistant for a 3-month temporary assignment, with a strong possibility of extension. You will enjoy true work-life balance with a Monday-to-Friday schedule (no weekends!), working rotating 8-hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. While this is a high-volume environment requiring focus on data entry and Kroll, our client offers a tailored training program to help you succeed. That said, 2-3 years' experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a role involving a focus on intake, billing and adjudication is required for you to be set up for success.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage high-volume data entry in Kroll (approx. 50-60 entries/calls per shift), focusing on billing prescription claims, manual submissions, and related
  • Support dispensing activities, maintain Medication Administration Records (MARs), and conduct detailed reviews of patient histories to ensure file accuracy
  • Resolve reimbursement issues, manage unfilled prescriptions, and coordinate with Patient Support Programs to verify coverage details
  • Provide empathetic and professional support via phone and email
  • resolve patient inquiries and handle sensitive conversations regarding outstanding account balances
  • Utilize critical thinking to troubleshoot billing rejections and assist patients in managing various challenges within scope
  • Maintain current workflow tasks to ensure timely patient follow-up and the resolution of pending billing and related matters.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of full-time work experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in any practice setting
  • Demonstrated experience with Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) billing, claims adjudication, and private insurance coordination is required
  • Proficiency with Kroll software is highly preferred
  • however, candidates with exceptional billing/adjudication skills on other pharmacy platforms will be considered
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) are essential for effective patient interaction and account-related calls
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a genuine interest in specialty pharmacy and high-volume environments
  • Must be able to work 100% on-site in Markham, ON.
