Job Description

Are you an experienced Pharmacy Assistant looking to transition away from the retail counter and step into a permanent, long-term career path? If you can navigate Kroll with ease, solve complex public and private insurance issues without escalation, and deliver exceptional patient support over the phone, this desk-based role is your next professional step. We are hiring a full-time, permanent Pharmacy Assistant specializing in Billing and Adjudication to join an established, highly collaborative healthcare team in Burnaby. This is a highly administrative role that relies heavily on your sharp attention to detail and communication skills. It is an incredible opportunity to make an immediate impact behind the scenes and position yourself for future career growth within a major healthcare service delivery organization.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a high volume of desk-based client and patient interactions fluidly via both phone and email
  • Perform complex pharmacy billing and insurance adjudication tasks as the primary focus of your daily workflow
  • Coordinate and communicate clearly and professionally with insurance providers, patients, and internal team members to resolve administrative roadblocks
  • Maintain complete accuracy when managing prescription labeling and documentation
  • Provide secondary, hands-on support to the pharmacy floor as needed, including filling, shipping, and delivery-oriented tasks

Requirements

  • Must-Have: Strong, proven experience in high volume pharmacy billing and adjudication
  • Must-Have: Fluency in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills (essential for this desk-based role)
  • Must-Have: Shift Flexibility. Following the training period (8 AM–4 PM), you must have the flexibility to work any of these shifts: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM or to support between the hours of 6am through 8pm weekdays if required
  • Strongly Preferred: Proficiency with Kroll pharmacy software. (Candidates with expert-level billing and adjudication skills on other pharmacy systems will also be considered)
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume office style environment
  • If you are educated in accounting/bookeeping and possess at least 1 years' full-time experience in a pharmacy setting, we can also consider your candidacy (as this is an insurance/adjudication focused role but the pharmacy background is a must)

What we offer

  • Full-Time, Permanent Status: Enjoy the long-term stability, security, and career satisfaction of a permanent placement from day one
  • Desk-Based Administrative Focus: Maximize your specialized technical talents. You will spend approximately 6 hours of your day focused on billing, adjudication, and client communication, and up to 2 hours supporting filling and hands-on pharmacy workflows based on daily business needs
  • Thriving Team Culture: Join a large, dynamic, and supportive team of pharmacy professionals who truly love where they work
  • Thorough Onboarding: Benefit from a dedicated training period (scheduled Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) to ensure your complete confidence in the role
  • Desirable Work Hours: Following your training, standard shifts are Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. (Candidates must have open availability between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM on weekdays to accommodate occasional shift adjustments based on business volume)
