Job Description

Assists pharmacy staff with general duties and provides support to pharmacy technicians and pharmacists. Maintains and replenishes inventory of medications and supplies and is responsible for general cleaning and tiding of the main pharmacy area. Organizes and sends medications (excluding controlled substances) to the patient care units. Answers and triages phone calls of a general nature, and forwards calls to pharmacist or technician when needed.

Job Responsibility

  • Organizes and sends medications to patient care units utilizing the pneumatic tube delivery system
  • Hand delivers medications to patient care units as requested
  • Maintains and replenishes inventory of medications and supplies in the main pharmacy area
  • Returns inventory to stock when it is returned from patient care units
  • Ensures all returned stock is still within its expiration date
  • Assists pharmacy staff with triaging general phone calls
  • Forwards calls requiring the knowledge and judgement of pharmacists or technicians
  • Answers phone or other inquiries of a general nature
  • Provides proper service recovery communications and actions as needed
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times
  • Tidies and organizes main pharmacy area
  • Offers ideas and recommendations for increased efficiency of processes in the main pharmacy
