The Bayview Hospital Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing prescription medicines and will be involved in the purchasing and quality testing of medicines in accordance with the Drug Regulations of Barbados. The Pharmacist may also prepare medicines, as in some cases treatments need to be tailor-made for individual patients.
Job Responsibility:
Dispensing prescription medicines
Purchasing and quality testing of medicines in accordance with the Drug Regulations of Barbados
Preparing tailor-made medicines for individual patients
Ensuring the Pharmacy Department follows all rules and regulations stated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness
Maintaining an adequate stock of drugs and medical supplies
Providing support to medical and nursing staff through efficient pharmaceutical services and timely filling of prescriptions/orders
Maintaining accurate records and demonstrating prudence in spending
Giving instructions to patients as instructed by physicians or surgeons
Interviewing and counseling patients regarding compliance, adverse reactions, and interactions
Maintaining all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, etc.)
Liaising with sales representatives of pharmaceutical companies and making recommendations regarding the purchasing of drugs
Maintaining pharmacy and medical supplies inventory
Managing staff, supervising and delegating appropriate tasks to his/her assistant
Performing administrative tasks, such as ensuring needed products are stocked, invoices are input, inventory managed and required reports are generated
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy with a minimum of two (2) years experience or an Associate degree in Pharmacy with a minimum of five (5) years experience
