Job Responsibility
Reviews and interprets specialty medication orders, ensuring accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to treatment guidelines
Establishes specialized patient counseling and education on the proper administration, potential side effects, and therapeutic goals of specialty medications
Confers with healthcare providers and insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations and facilitate reimbursement for specialty medications
Conducts most complex medication assessments, identifying drug interactions, contraindications, and potential medication-related problems specific to specialty medications
Assesses patient response to specialty medications, evaluating therapeutic outcomes and adjusting treatment plans
Educates healthcare providers on specialty medications, dosing, drug interactions, and alternative therapies
Integrates with the multidisciplinary care teams, providing clinical recommendations and contributing to treatment decisions for patients requiring specialty medications
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and safety protocols in the handling, storage, and dispensing of specialty medications
Stays updated on the latest research, guidelines, and advancements in specialty pharmacy practice, incorporating new knowledge into patient care
Requirements
Current Pharmacist License in good standing in State of Texas
Reside in the State of Texas within commutable distance of Flower Mound, TX
Six months pharmacy experience
Six months work experience with Windows-based applications like Windows, Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and email applications
Nice to have
Licenses in other states desirable
Prefer Healthcare work experience and familiarity with benefits, insurance, prescriptions
