Job Responsibility

  • Reviews and interprets specialty medication orders, ensuring accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to treatment guidelines
  • Establishes specialized patient counseling and education on the proper administration, potential side effects, and therapeutic goals of specialty medications
  • Confers with healthcare providers and insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations and facilitate reimbursement for specialty medications
  • Conducts most complex medication assessments, identifying drug interactions, contraindications, and potential medication-related problems specific to specialty medications
  • Assesses patient response to specialty medications, evaluating therapeutic outcomes and adjusting treatment plans
  • Educates healthcare providers on specialty medications, dosing, drug interactions, and alternative therapies
  • Integrates with the multidisciplinary care teams, providing clinical recommendations and contributing to treatment decisions for patients requiring specialty medications
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and safety protocols in the handling, storage, and dispensing of specialty medications
  • Stays updated on the latest research, guidelines, and advancements in specialty pharmacy practice, incorporating new knowledge into patient care

Requirements

  • Current Pharmacist License in good standing in State of Texas
  • Reside in the State of Texas within commutable distance of Flower Mound, TX
  • Six months pharmacy experience
  • Six months work experience with Windows-based applications like Windows, Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and email applications

  • Licenses in other states desirable
  • Prefer Healthcare work experience and familiarity with benefits, insurance, prescriptions
