Job Description

Pharmacist - Full-Time, Permanent - Specialty Compounding - Hamilton - Healthcare. Are you a licensed Pharmacist eager to break into the highly rewarding field of specialized IV therapies? If you have been looking for an entry point into sterile compounding but lack experience, this is your perfect opportunity. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Pharmacist for our client's site in Hamilton, ON (95% on-site in Hamilton) with a requirement for local travel to Mississauga, ON approximately once a month (5% of the role) to provide backfill coverage. This direct-hire, permanent position offers training to those who are entering this field for the first time, a pay rate commensurate with experience, benefits and more. The operational hours feature shifts scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM, a 1 in 5 weekend rotation once the team is fully staffed with this vacancy filled, and no on-call duties.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise daily pharmacy activities and manage the clinical workflow for specialized IV admixture dispensing
  • Triage incoming orders, evaluate prescriptions for clinical clarity, and perform final releases on pain medications, antibiotics, and electrolytes at the Hamilton facility
  • Conduct final clinical checks on boxed and labeled specialty products, providing meaningful patient counseling and medication reconciliation where required
  • Support data entry staff, pharmacy assistants, and technicians by prioritizing critical customer demands in a high-pressure, zero-defect environment
  • Follow strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provincial/federal regulations to maintain total health, safety, and cleanroom integrity
  • Provide occasional backfill and site synergy support at the Mississauga specialty pharmacy location about once per month

Requirements

  • Minimum University undergraduate degree in Pharmacy (BScPhm or PharmD) and must be fully licensed and registered as a Part A Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
  • Strong work ethic, a positive team-oriented attitude, and a genuine desire to learn specialized pharmacy operations
  • Absolute comfort adhering to strict sterile environment protocols, which includes wearing full PPE and refraining from cosmetics, false lashes, or strong fragrances during shifts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with data entry teams and external healthcare professionals
  • Prior experience in a hospital, retail, or long-term care setting is welcome, though specialized training is completely provided
  • Natural attention to detail and strong mathematical calculation skills for formulation verification
  • Ability to thrive and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment with short turnaround times
