As a Pharmacist for our Specialty Compounding Pharmacy, you will have the ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare professionals while providing leadership and guidance to supporting staff. Our Pharmacists ensure the accurate delivery of pharmaceutical care services, which include drug therapy monitoring, patient education, drug information and chronic disease state management for our clinical programs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Clinically interprets and evaluates all physician medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, cost effectiveness, accuracy, safety, and completeness
  • Performs accurate computer order entry, labeling and dispensing in accordance with policies and procedures and State Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • Initiates, reviews, and updates all required documentation to verify accuracy, communicating clinical and technical information and monitoring to other members of the healthcare team and patient when appropriate
  • Works with product procurement/reimbursement team to provide payor specific formulary products and ensure product availability for new medication orders
  • Participates in patient evaluation for acceptance, product selection, device selection, and supply management, working with admission team and nursing agency to coordinate medication preparation and delivery
  • When assigned clean room responsibilities, directly supervises pharmacy support personnel in the appropriate compounding, packaging, and labeling of compounded sterile products
  • Supervises pharmacy support personnel in the appropriate product procurement, preferred product utilization, and inventory management
  • Complies with cleanroom policies in accordance with USP 797 for safe compounding practices, maintaining quality assurance (QA) documentation
  • Maintains security of all legend items and accurately maintains all legally required records in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Complies with FDA mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions on particular drugs, as applicable
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities, educational programs, and departmental/branch meetings
  • Assists in training and orientation of new employees as requested by pharmacy manager or designee
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including on-call responsibilities

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Computer skills (word processing, database, spreadsheet programs)
  • Read, analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations
  • Write and present information to managers, patients, nurses and physicians
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Active Pennsylvania pharmacy license that is in good standing
  • Must reside in the State of Pennsylvania
  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD from accredited Pharmacy School
