Job Description

Maui Humane Society is an open-admissions animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. We provide veterinary and routine care and help surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, education and outreach, programs to retain pets in their families, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. Our team is resilient, compassionate to animals, creative problem-solvers, and dedicated to do what it takes to get the job done. We're excited to welcome you as our next Pet Resources Specialist. In this role you will be the primary point of contact for all walk-ins, support all shelter inquiries, and provide a range of services to the community. You will need to exhibit strong customer service skills without judgement and will be leading difficult conversations with highly emotional people daily.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing a positive community experience in all transactions
  • Processing data and payments in our shelter software
  • Intaking animals being surrendered - including for euthanasia
  • High volume surgery scheduling and intake
  • Preparing animals for cremation

Requirements

  • Strong customer service communication skills - externally and internally
  • High comfort in interacting with animals
  • Ability to use multiple computer programs efficiently

Nice to have

  • Experience in animal welfare
  • Experience with shelter software (PetPoint preferred)
  • Animal handling experience especially in a professional setting (boarding, grooming, vet)
  • Medical office experience
  • Social services experience
