The Personal Tax Administrator will provide administrative and compliance support to the Personal Tax team, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation, submission, and management of personal tax returns and related client documentation. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, keen attention to detail, and an interest in UK taxation.
Job Responsibility:
Support the tax team with the preparation of Self Assessment tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and trusts
Manage client information, ensuring all relevant documentation is received, organised, and stored securely
Preparation of rental accounts
Prepare draft tax return packs and client correspondence
Assist with submitting returns to HMRC via the firm’s tax software
Assisting with compliance for HMRC’s new ‘Making Tax Digital for Income Tax’ regime
Check individuals employment benefits and PAYE coding notices
Liaise with clients on their personal tax position and advising on payments due
Preparation of 60-day UK Property Returns
Act as a first point of contact for clients regarding basic administrative queries
Collect client authorisations (64-8/Agent Services), and maintain up‑to‑date client records
Chase clients for outstanding information in a professional and timely manner
Monitor HMRC deadlines and ensure compliance timetables are met
Assist with HMRC queries, tracking responses and maintaining communication logs
Request and review HMRC statements of account where required
Manage diaries and key tax-year deadlines, including UK filing deadlines and payment reminders
Support the wider tax team with general administrative tasks as required
Requirements:
Strong administrative background, ideally within professional services or financial environments
Experience in personal tax in SA
Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to manage confidential information responsibly
Competent IT skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Nice to have:
Experience working within tax
Familiarity with HMRC systems (e.g., Agent Services Account) or tax software (e.g., Digita, CCH, IRIS)
