Job Description:

Cardinal Nannies & Caregivers Inc. is seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide high-quality, one-on-one care for a young female adult with a developmental disability for a family in Whitby. This role is ideal for those who excel in prioritizing a client’s dignity, safety, and comfort within their own home. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive assistance that encompasses all Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). We are looking for a PSW who is not only skilled in clinical support but is also committed to maintaining a clean, nutritious, and supportive living environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Personal Care (ADLs): Provide full assistance with personal hygiene, bathing, grooming, dressing/undressing, and toileting
  • Mobility Support: Assist with safe transfers (e.g., bed to chair & wheelchair)
  • Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping duties to ensure a tidy and hazard-free home
  • Nutritious Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare healthy meals tailored to the client’s dietary needs and preferences
  • Safe Environment: Maintain a clean and comfortable atmosphere that promotes the client’s overall well-being and independence

Requirements:

  • Valid PSW Certificate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly compassionate
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and CPR/First Aid certification

Nice to have:

Experience in supporting clients with developmental disabilities and seizure disorders

  • Maintain on-going patient care during transportation to and from receiving/sending facilities
  • Maintain and record complete patient and operational documentation
  • Assess patients including vital signs and report abnormal findings to sending and/or receiving facility
  • Maintain dignity and patient confidentiality during every encounter
  • Restock and clean the vehicle and equipment as required
  • Complete checklists, encompassing vehicle readiness, vehicle and equipment sanitation, equipment deficiencies, etc. to ensure quality assurance
  • Practice proper hand hygiene and utilize personal protective equipment as required during all patient encounters in compliance with all workplace safety and infection control standards
  • Represent the DSB in a professional and courteous manner and in accordance with the Policy and Procedure manual
