Job Description

Join our Leaving Care Service as a Personal Advisor working with our care experienced young people. Each day working as a Personal Advisor will be varied but always focused on achieving positive outcomes for our young people. Personal Advisors provide advice, assistance and support to our care leavers, helping them to prepare for independent living and to achieve their wishes and goals for the future. At Peterborough, we strive for aspirational outcomes for the young people we support. Our priorities are to ensure that our young people are living in suitable accommodation, have opportunities to engage in education, employment/training, and can contribute positively within the local community. You will be working with eligible, relevant, former relevant and qualifying young people, providing 1:1 support, and undertaking the role of Personal Advisor as set out in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. Your role will also involve ensuring all our Care Leavers understand and are able to access our local offer. As a Corporate Parent we want to support our young people to achieve successful transitions into adulthood. We are aspirational for our young people aiming to achieve the best outcomes for them through SMART goals and a trauma-informed, relationship-based approach.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide advice, assistance and support to our care leavers
  • Help them to prepare for independent living and to achieve their wishes and goals for the future
  • Work with eligible, relevant, former relevant and qualifying young people, providing 1:1 support
  • Undertake the role of Personal Advisor as set out in the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017
  • Ensure all our Care Leavers understand and are able to access our local offer
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording is kept
  • Work in partnership with other agencies involved with the young persons

Requirements

  • Minimum of a NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant work area
  • Access to a car and willingness to travel around and outside the Peterborough Local authority area
  • Ability to drive and travel is essential to this role
