Are you passionate about empowering young people to reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated Personal Advisor to join our "Good" Ofsted-rated Children's Services team in Carlisle. In this vital role, you will act as a "trusted guide" for young care leavers aged 16 to 24, providing the support, advocacy, and guidance they need to transition successfully into independent adult life.
Job Responsibility:
Direct Support: Provide intensive one-to-one support to a caseload of young people, helping them navigate housing, health, and education
Pathway Planning: Lead and coordinate the development and review of "Pathway Plans" to ensure clear, achievable goals for every young person
Advocacy: Ensure the "voice of the child" is central to all decision-making and that their rights are protected
Collaboration: Work closely with partner agencies, including housing providers and the DWP, to secure necessary resources for care leavers
Record Keeping: Maintain high-quality, accurate case notes and assessments in line with statutory requirements
Requirements:
At least two years' experience working with adolescents or young adults, ideally within a social care or community setting
A DipSW, NVQ Level 4, or equivalent qualification in social care or youth work
Strong communication skills, resilient nature, and a solid understanding of the benefits and housing systems available to care leavers
An Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List clearance is essential
