Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Permit Tech to join our team in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on a long-term contract basis. This role involves assisting with permit applications, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact effectively with the public, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide guidance to applicants on permit portal usage and submission processes
  • Communicate with property owners, contractors, and architects regarding permit requirements and application statuses
  • Review permit applications and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with local codes and regulations
  • Verify contractor licensing and jurisdictional authority for submitted applications
  • Assist in the preparation of Certificates of Occupancy and related documentation
  • Coordinate the electronic plan review process, including assigning documents to appropriate departments and updating software systems
  • Schedule inspections for various permits and confirm eligibility before finalizing appointments
  • Close out permit applications upon inspection approvals and maintain accurate records in the permitting system
  • Perform administrative tasks such as invoicing, fee collection, and reconciliation
  • Maintain statistical data and organize permitting forms for efficient recordkeeping

Requirements

  • Proven experience in data entry with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Familiarity with numeric and computer-based data entry processes
  • Proficient in typing and handling large volumes of information
  • Ability to interpret and explain construction-related regulations and processes
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders
  • Comfortable using permitting software and electronic plan review tools
  • Basic understanding of construction documents and permitting procedures
