Job Description

As a Fostering Social Worker, you will work as part of a supportive and committed fostering team, responsible for recruiting, assessing, training, and supporting foster carers across Bradford. You will play a vital role in ensuring that foster carers are well prepared and supported to meet the needs of children and young people, helping to build placement stability and long-term positive outcomes. This is a dynamic and varied role that combines assessment, supervision, support, and partnership working with a strong focus on achieving permanence and improving the lived experience of children in care.

Job Responsibility

  • Undertaking comprehensive Form F assessments of prospective foster carers
  • Providing ongoing supervision, support, and guidance to approved foster carers
  • Supporting foster carer development through training and learning opportunities
  • Contributing to matching children with appropriate foster placements
  • Ensuring fostering households meet required standards and regulations
  • Working closely with children's social workers, IROs, and partner agencies
  • Promoting placement stability and positive outcomes for children in foster care
  • Maintaining accurate and timely case recordings in line with statutory requirements

Requirements

  • Qualified and registered with Social Work England
  • Experienced within Children's Social Care, ideally fostering, safeguarding, or looked after children services
  • Confident in undertaking assessments and managing complex casework
  • Skilled in building strong, trusting relationships with foster carers and families
  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people
  • Able to work collaboratively within a supportive team environment
  • Committed to high-quality, child-centred practice
