Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Perishables Operator to join our team in Sydney. This position focuses on the airfreight management of perishable goods, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery within the global supply chain.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and coordinate the airfreight operations for perishables, ensuring adherence to regulations, timelines, and KPIs
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including AQIS inspections, fumigation, RACA, RMP, and MPI requirements
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, airlines, overseas agents, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations
  • Handle administrative tasks related to airfreight documentation and compliance
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in line with the National Perishables Manager's strategic objectives and KPIs
  • Arrange transport, cartage, and prepare quotations for airfreight services, negotiating rates with airlines when necessary
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in the perishables airfreight sector
  • Assist in day-to-day operations and troubleshooting as required
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet or exceed departmental goals
  • Provide support and guidance to junior staff, ensuring a high standard of operational delivery
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years' proven experience in airfreight perishables operations, preferably in a logistics or freight forwarding company
  • Comprehensive understanding of airfreight logistics and perishables management, with a focus on timely and compliant transportation
  • Strong experience in business development, including the identification of new opportunities and negotiation of contracts
  • Excellent knowledge of international transportation, freight forwarding, and industry terminology
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed KPIs and performance targets
  • Demonstrated experience in managing operations in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet
  • Stakeholder management skills, both internal and external
  • A Bachelor's Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred
