Job Description

UVM Medical Center offers a perioperative nursing course developed by The Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN). The purpose of this course is to prepare the registered nurse for entry level practice in perioperative nursing with a focus on intraoperative care. The course consists of a didactic online web-based learning modules along with a preceptored clinical experience. Emphasis will be placed on performing functions directly related to circulating in the operating room. A rotation through various services (ENT/Dental, Plastics, General, GYN, GU, daVinci Robotics, CVT, Ortho, and Neuro) occurs during this internship. Upon successful completion of the AORN web based course, the intern will receive a certificate of completion and 41.7 CEUs.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare for entry level practice in perioperative nursing with a focus on intraoperative care

Requirements

  • State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required
  • or a graduate nurse who is license-eligible for the first time
  • For new grads: NCLEX- RN must be passed prior to the start of the program
