The Perinatal Sonographer I utilizes high frequency sound waves along with color and spectral Doppler ultrasound to assist in the monitoring and growth during pregnancy. The sonographers within KU's OB/GYN MFM Department are leading the region with their practices.
Job Responsibility:
Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician
Instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure
Obtains diagnostic sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient with the transducer
Assists physicians with ultrasound guided procedures
Maintains work area to include medical supplies for procedures
Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department
Requirements:
High School Graduate
Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program which meets requirements by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Active OB/GYN RDMS certification or RDMS credential must be earned within 90 days of first date of employment within 90 Days
