Working in our Maternal–Fetal Medicine (MFM) Department offers sonographers the unique opportunity to be directly involved in patient care throughout the entire pregnancy journey—from the first trimester through delivery. While we are a fast-paced and high-acuity department, we pride ourselves on being a close‑knit, supportive team. You’ll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, genetic counselors, social workers, and medical assistants, fostering strong communication, teamwork, and continuity of care. Job Responsibility
Performs basic to advanced obstetric diagnostic ultrasound imaging and procedures
Selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound exams
Reviews medical records to obtain necessary clinical information
Calibrates, adjusts, and maintains ultrasound equipment
Participates in department quality assurance studies
Assists in the clinical instruction of sonography students, OB/GYN residents, and medical students
Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties
Requirements
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 1 year
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Fetal Echocardiography issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) needs to be obtained within 2 years
Nuchal Translucency credential issued by the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program needs to be obtained within 1 year
Nasal Bone credential issued by the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review Program needs to be obtained within 2 years
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months
A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles
Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography
No experience required
Advanced knowledge of fetal abnormalities and their diagnosis
Proficient in performing scans of various anatomical areas and identifying cross sectional human anatomy
Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills
Basic computer proficiency
