Job Description:

The Engineer Sr Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and development of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our organization's network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and a proactive approach to ensure network reliability, performance, and scalability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Contribute to the budgetary requirement definition for assigned product area, develop functional specifications, and create project plans and software release schedules
  • Partner with business and development teams to identify engineering requirements and assist in defining application and system requirements and processes and maintain engineering relationships with the end user/client
  • Ensure requirements/tasks from technology departments and/or end users are communicated to stakeholders
  • Provide solutions and processes in accordance with audit initiatives and requirements and consult with Information Security officers
  • Exhibit in-depth understanding of engineering concepts and principles
  • Assist with training activities and mentor junior team members
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available network architectures
  • Plan, configure, and deploy network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points) from various vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5)
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security incidents
  • Provide expert-level support for all network-related problems, collaborating with other IT teams as needed
  • Participate in an after-hours support for network change activities
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control lists (ACLs)
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry best practices
  • Identify opportunities for network automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors
  • Develop and implement scripts (e.g., Python, Ansible) for network configuration, monitoring, and management tasks
  • Work closely with other infrastructure teams (server, virtualization, cloud) to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems
  • Participate in project planning and provide technical expertise for new initiatives

Requirements:

  • 8 years + of relevant experience in an Engineering role
  • Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
  • Project Management experience
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
  • Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Proven track record of operational process change and improvement
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level networks
  • Strong proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), switching technologies (VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP), and VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN)
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with network virtualization technologies (e.g., SD-WAN, NSX)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills

Nice to have:

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, CCIE, PCNSE)
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, Google Cloud Networking)
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Experience with load balancers (e.g., F5 BIG-IP, A10 Networks)
  • Knowledge of VoIP and QoS implementation
  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare)
