We're looking for a proactive and creative operator to join our team as our first in-market People Ops hire. Based in Dakar, you'll support the employee lifecycle not only for Capi Senegal, but also Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, Mali, Kenya, Benin, Togo, and additional markets as we grow! You'll be the friendly face and trusted point-of-contact for new joiners across Francophone and Anglophone African markets, ensuring fast, smooth, compliant onboarding and an outstanding employee experience. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the foundations of People Operations across multiple countries and build scalable systems from the ground up.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary People Ops contact for team members across Senegal, CIV, Mali, Kenya, Benin, Togo, and future markets
  • Partner with local HR teams through our EOR platforms to ensure compliance with employment laws across multiple jurisdictions
  • Coordinate local policies (leave, benefits, contracts) with support from the Head of People
  • Lead onboarding for all hires across West and East Africa, including scheduling, equipment provision, orientation, systems access, and documentation
  • Work with recruiters and managers to ensure new joiners feel supported, informed, and fully equipped from the start
  • Maintain consistent onboarding standards across markets (checklists, communication templates, welcome guides)
  • Manage offboarding workflows, exit documentation, and knowledge transfer
  • Respond to employee questions about payroll, benefits, and leave rules with clarity and empathy
  • Coordinate closely with our EOR partners Deel and Rivermate
  • Support health insurance administration, reimbursements, and local statutory requirements
  • Support office operations in Dakar: supplies, equipment coordination, vendor management, and event support
  • Coordinate local team gatherings, market visits, and offsites
  • Champion Capi’s culture across a distributed team and help build strong connections between markets
  • Manage employee records, contracts, letters, and compliance documentation
  • Help develop scalable People processes and SOPs across onboarding, leave, travel, employee events, and more
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and propose improvements to enhance speed and quality of People support

Requirements:

  • 4+ years in People Operations, HR, Office Management, or a similar operational role
  • Strong organisational skills that make you able to coordinate across teams and countries without dropping details
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • you are approachable and solutions-oriented
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building structure where none exists
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
  • Based in Dakar, with the ability to work from the Dakar office several days a week

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting operations across multiple African markets
  • Knowledge of local labour regulations (Senegal or other WAEMU countries)
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Familiarity with HRIS tools, payroll tools, or Google Workspace
What we offer:
  • Help build a world-class People Operations function across multiple African markets
  • Work closely with a small, mission-driven team shaping financial access across the continent
  • Grow quickly - this role could scale into a senior People Operations position as the company expands
