Job Description:

We are looking for a People Operations professional to build and scale the systems, programs, and processes that power our team. You’ll ensure that Tandem’s people infrastructure — spanning onboarding, compensation, benefits, compliance, performance, and culture — runs smoothly, efficiently, and with excellence. You will serve as the operational backbone for the employee lifecycle and a strategic partner to leaders across the company. This role blends execution and strategy: building scalable systems while staying close to the day-to-day employee experience. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who loves precision, thrives in ambiguity, and takes pride in operational excellence. If you are deeply organized, data-driven, and motivated by helping exceptional people do their best work, we want to meet you.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own and optimize end-to-end people processes: onboarding, offboarding, benefits, compensation, performance, compliance, and engagement
  • Maintain data integrity across HR systems (HRIS, payroll, ATS) and serve as the system administrator for core people tools
  • Partner with Finance on payroll, headcount planning, and compensation cycles
  • Ensure compliance with all employment regulations and internal policy standards
  • Build scalable frameworks and SOPs for hiring, feedback, and employee development
  • Work with leadership to improve the employee experience — from first day to last
  • Manage and track key people metrics and reporting to enable better decision-making
  • Lead and support company-wide programs (e.g., engagement surveys, performance reviews, recognition programs)
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees — handling questions with empathy, discretion, and clarity
  • Drive operational excellence by continuously identifying opportunities to automate, simplify, or improve existing processes

Requirements:

  • 2–7 years of experience in people operations, HR, or business operations in a fast-paced environment (startups, consulting, or scaling tech companies preferred)
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills
  • you’re comfortable with data, spreadsheets, and workflows
  • Experience managing HRIS and related tools (e.g., Rippling, Gusto, Justworks, Workday, etc.)
  • Excellent judgment and confidentiality — you handle sensitive information with care
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • you bring clarity and calm to complexity
  • A builder’s mindset — you enjoy designing from zero and scaling what works
  • Curiosity and intellectual horsepower
  • you learn fast and stay rigorous
  • A sense of ownership — you don’t just identify problems, you fix them
  • Comfort with ambiguity, change, and moving at high velocity
What we offer:
  • Fully covered medical, vision, and dental insurance
  • Memberships for One Medical, Talkspace, Teladoc, and Kindbody
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO) and 16 weeks of parental leave
  • 401K plan setup, FSA option, commuter benefits, and DashPass
  • Lunch at the office every day and Dinner at the office after 7 pm
  • Meaningful equity (for full-time employees)
